* Thanks to several alert readers we have further information regarding the GMG girls club. The original name of the club was Girls’ Missionary Guild. GMG was started as a project of the Baptist General Conference Women’s Division in 1946.  The program was loosely patterned after the Girl Scouts. One adult member says, “I was a GMGer and am so thankful for that while growing up!!!”
